LinkedIn Groups are underutilized by sales & business development professionals. This is partly because the best LinkedIn groups are private & won’t let you see their members. But we learned of a way around that. Now you can find members of private linkedIn groups through this crafty hack. And it only takes 20 seconds.
I’ll start with the end result. Put this search into Google:
This will give me all of the private members of this group who live in New York. Pretty cool eh? Here are the simple steps:
1. Find a group on a members profile for which you’d like to know all the members (use Chrome browser). In this case, I’ve chosen “Inside Sales Association” because that’s who we sell to but it will work for any other private groups on LinkedIn. Look for the group logo
2. Scroll down to it and right click your mouse. Choose “inspect element, & click the magnifying glass. Scroll over the image for the private group and capture the file name for that image. In this case, it’s “Inside Sales Association logo”. Copy it.
3. Go to Google. Enter the search query: Site:www.linkedin.com/in/ “Logo name found in step 2” This will bring up all the public profiles of people in that private group. For additional filtering you can add things like: “greater Atlanta area” or “vp of sales”
This quick and easy trick will allow you to find the majority of members in hidden or private LinkedIn groups. Pretty cool eh? Well if you like that, you’ll love our free Job Change Alerts service.
