Meet Sydney Sloan, SalesLoft’s New Chief Marketing Officer

June 29, 2018

Salesloft is fortunate to have had incredible marketing leadership at each stage of our journey. Today we’re pleased to announce the addition of Sydney Sloan as our first Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Sydney is an accomplished B2B global marketing leader who will help lead us into our next phase of growth.

Sydney joined Salesloft this week and we got an early chance to talk with her to learn about her experience and her decision to join the Salesloft team.

Welcome to Salesloft! What brought you to us?

Salesloft CMO Sydney SloanI have always been a believer in and advocate for the important relationship between sales and marketing. As a martech advisor, I became a fan of Salesloft’s sales engagement platform early on. In fact, the platform was one of the recommendations I made to many companies.

When Salesloft approached me about joining the team, part of my research included speaking to various customers and partners about the company and the platform. I learned Salesloft has a lot of fans and has proven value to their customers consistently. To have the opportunity to work with the leading company in a hyper-growth market, with customers who believe in the product – these were the reasons I was excited to pursue the opportunity.

How has your previous work prepared you for this opportunity?

I’ve spent the past few years as CMO for Alfresco, where our team helped the company achieve record quarterly growth and pass its $100 million milestone last year. Salesloft’s growth trajectory is even more aggressive, and I look forward to helping the company scale while ensuring customers continue to succeed on the platform.

I’ve spent a large part of my career helping organizations transform customer experiences to build stronger brands – and ultimately stronger relationships – with their customers. Prior to joining Alfresco, I created and led the customer experience team for Jive Software. I primarily focused on building out the customer community and driving retention, growth, and advocacy programs. I also created Adobe’s first customer marketing team and helped evangelize the importance of customer experience management for Adobe Marketing Cloud customers.

We’re at a pivotal moment in the evolution of relationships between organizations and customers. Technology is continually changing the way we reach and communicate with customers. I believe Salesloft is well-positioned to capitalize on these trends with our mission to help customers deliver better selling (and buying) experiences.

What are your high-level thoughts on marketing & sales today?

The buying process for customers is complex. Buyers are more informed than ever before. However, these buyers are inundated with email, cold calls, and other distractions that make it difficult for sellers to break through the noise. What buyers really want is a personalized, thoughtful, and authentic buying experience.

Creating personalized experiences isn’t easy. It requires time, research, and well-coordinated efforts between sales and marketing to build relevant communications with the customer throughout the buying process. And long after it, for that matter.

Organizations must find a way to treat every customer individually in order to deliver the best possible buying experience. This is an area I’ve specialized in for a long time and a core focus for Salesloft. I’m looking forward to helping the company and our customers evolve and adapt to these new realities and opportunities in the marketplace today.

What do you do for fun outside of work?

When I’m not in the office, you can usually find me on the sidelines as a full-time soccer mom to my kids. I love to spend time outdoors hiking, skiing, playing in the dirt, and exploring different cultures around the world.

East Coast or West Coast?

I currently live and work in Silicon Valley and will help build out our presence on the West Coast. I’m looking forward to getting to know Atlanta better (and the city’s awesome food scene) as I travel back and forth. I’ve lived in the bay area for the past six years and prior to that commuted to the Bay Area from Ottawa, Canada.

Anything else you’d like to share about joining the team?

I’m excited to join Salesloft at this stage of growth. Having helped align strategy and execution to drive growth and scale at both public and pre-IPO companies, I believe I’m joining the Salesloft team at the perfect time.

I’ve seen firsthand the proven value the Salesloft platform brings to customers and the strong brand reputation we’ve earned in the marketplace. The amazing culture and leadership team the company has is inspiring. I’m looking forward to doing my part to help the company continue to thrive.
