Over the past few weeks we have been having difficult but necessary conversations about the Black Lives Matter movement. We have not made a statement before now because we didn’t want to post token messages of support without a plan to back up our words. And we couldn’t make a plan before we deeply understood how we could be part of the solution.
We have a lot of work to do at Salesloft and in our country to fight injustice and achieve equality, diversity, and inclusivity.
Today, on Juneteenth, we are making a commitment to our employees, our customers, our community, and our country to continue fighting for the liberation and equality of Black Americans. And we are starting by getting our own house in order.
Here’s what we are doing:
- Establishing employee resource groups so employees have safe spaces to make their voices heard and to foster a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
- Expanding our employee donation matching program to double donations to organizations focused on social injustices.
- Augmenting our existing diversity and inclusion training with a special course, “Race, Resilience, and the Role of Being an Ally,” to help employees uncover and course-correct unconscious biases and empower them to become better allies.
- Using our own platform to push for legislative action. Specifically, we are urging our state government to pass a hate crime law in the state of Georgia, which is currently one of only four states without one.
- Committing to building a company with diversity in all levels of leadership, including our Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team.
- Our company is currently 33.5% diverse. We will continue to make racial diversity a priority in our hiring.
- Officially recognize Juneteenth every year by closing our offices to honor the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
This is just the beginning. We will keep striving to find new ways to fight for meaningful change.
