If You’re API And You Know It

December 19, 2017

Modern sales organizations leverage modern sales engagement technology to enhance and elevate sales efforts. We know this and love this – it is the reason why we get out of bed from one day to the next. We also know that our platform can do far more than what we’ve prescribed, and we don’t want our vision and roadmap to get in the way of the endless possibilities that are out there.

That’s why we’re making our API available to you. The assortment of APIs that we’ve exposed can be used to boost your organization’s sales efforts further than even Salesloft has imagined.

We already work with a host of partners to extend the capability of Salesloft, some with custom work and some with APIs. Now we have the option to do even more.

API Benefits

You Can Do More With Salesloft.
You can add data. You can extract data. You can play with data you took out, enhance it, and put it back in. We don’t want to limit your ideas by telling you our ideas – but essentially you can do lots of cool experiments that can add value to you and your team.

Your Ideas Can Come To Life.
Yes, it will take some navigation of red tape to get access to developers (or a plate of cookies, depending on your company and its culture). But once you have their interest and attention, you’ll find that you may be able to solve for pain points in small and big ways. We have a “requirements start kit” below to help you show up to the conversation as prepared as you can.

Your Internal Development Team Has More Fun.
Word. They always want a good, new, hard challenge. Working on a project like this can be exciting, innovative, and a welcome break from their standard day-to-day.

How does it work?

Our APIs give developers a way to programmatically interact with Salesloft data. Customers that have access to developers (either internally or contracted) can share their ideas and requirements along with the library to see what interesting use cases can be solved. Partners can do the same, creating even more options for extending Salesloft capabilities.

What can I build?

The options are endless, but here are some of the ideas we’ve had.

  • Integrate with recruiting software to create prospects in the recruiting software when prospecting for recruits. Then have Salesloft notes & activities write back to the recruiting software.
  • Create a mobile app that allows you to enter name & email address, push a button, then automatically add that contact to Salesloft and an event follow up cadence. This would be even more interesting if you could scan a business card or conference ID instead of manually entering the information.
  • Integration with CRM we don’t currently integrate with, or a CRM system you built internally.
  • Build a real-time chart to display calling results and gamify a power hour.

How do I ask my developers to build something?

Try using this “requirements starter kit”. The more organized and specific you are, the more likely you are to get a good response from your developers.

Hi, I’m interested in your time to work on a project to enhance Salesloft. Salesloft is our sales engagement platform, used by the sales team to convert leads into closed deals with a codified approach to calling, emailing, and other coordinated touch points with prospects. It integrates with Salesforce, our email platform, and has a softphone component.

Here’s what I was hoping we could do together.

As a [insert role], I want to [your idea in less than 5 words] so that I can [what you want to happen].

  • What would be nice for it to have:

We built something, now what?
